Strength Training

Before a jog, run, yoga , aerobics, Zumba or strength training class the group trainer will instruct you to 'stretch' before the main exercise class begins. I am the first to admit I'm the worst with being disciplined to stretch properly! For some reason I feel it's not diving into the exercise and get it going and over with!
When I googled the question of 'why is stretching so important"this was the answer I received: "Better flexibility may improve your performance in physical activities or decrease your risk of injuries by helping your joints move through their full range of motion and enabling your muscles to work most effectively. Stretching also increases blood flow to the muscle."
In my spiritual life, I have found that this truth is present also. I find the trials of life, pain, dealing with obstacles and frustrations, and the like, all are similar to the 'stretching' before we exercise. Look at Hebrews 12:13, "Therefore, strengthen the hands that are weak and the knees that are feeble, and make straight paths for your feet, so that the limb which is lame may not be put out of joint, but rather be healed." and 1 Timothy 4:8 explains, "physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come."
We have to live our lives in expectation that we are running a race, called life. We are in training, we are stretching, we are getting strong daily in his word to go out and run, to fight a battle for victory is in Jesus Christ.
