The Waiting Room

Do you feel antsy and ripped off when you have to wait longer than you want to for appointments? When we wait for a train, a bus or sit and wait at the doctor's office in the waiting room even though we have our ticket paid for in advance, or we have made our scheduled doctor's appointment as they request we do to 'get in sooner' we still sometimes have to sit, and wait, and wait and wait. Even though you did the right thing to get your appointment on time, or unforeseen circumstances happen on the train track that causes the train to be delayed at another station, or a patient that was severely ill came in unexpected and the office allowed that person to see the doctor as an emergency situation. Waiting sometimes happens without our control. We all ususally pull out a magaizine or our smart phone apps and read or play games when we have to wait, to pass the time with ease, but what about waiting in life?
I have found this happens in my life especially when I have plans for the near future, or exciting or pressing deadlines that we can't wait for. There are circumstances beyond our control that creep up and surprise us and actually seem to want to disrupt our planning processes and yet we still know these plans and ideas will happen and we find ourselves sitting in the waiting room longer than expected.
If we have and maintain an "eternal perspective' with our lives and live with a margin of time and allow the Holy Spirit to guide us, we will be able to trust in times of waiting on the Lord.

Things to do while you wait in the waiting room of your life:

1. Be Still (Psalm 46:10)
Being still before God and knowing He has a plan for this waiting time you are in. It takes discipline to control your 'flesh' to surrender to this faith you will develop. He is sovereign and He knows the
future, we don't.
2. Do Good (Psalm 37:3-4)
Trust in the Lord, and do GOOD. The second thing to do while in the waiting room is to not just
be still and do "nothing" but in this Psalm it says to do good. Use this time to give to others, do kind
things for others in need, focus on giving and you will see the time passes more purposefully.

Verse of the Day
Proverbs 8:34 "Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway."
