Forgiveness is for you, not them

To not forgive is like living your life with a looming cloud of darkness hovering over your heart. It's heavy, it's constant and it's a nagging and relentless weight. It doesn't affect the one you are holding the offense against, this looming cloud of darkness you have of unforgiveness, it does nothing for them. The longer we hold on to it, the deeper the wounds go and it only affects you. The longer you hold onto the unforgiven feelings the more opportunities your mind and then heart, has to become further bitter and then callous and which is followed by hardened. Does this sound like a great choice to living a victorious life? Not at all! The bible is full of information about the importance of forgiveness. Without a doubt, the Christian faith is based upon the forgiveness that God extends to us through his Son who died on the cross for us to be forgiven.

In Ephesians 4:31-32 it says,"Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander along with all malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God has forgiven you."
You may be saying, "but how can I forgive 'THAT" ??, you may say.  Maybe you have something so horrible in your heart that someone did to you and you are deeply hurt. Know that Jesus has been directly effected in every way hurt by man when he walked this earth and today, people are still daily offending the name of God. He still extends that love and sweet forgiveness to all.

In Collossians 3:13, it says to us " Bear with each other  and forgive one another and if any of you has a grievance against someone, forgive as The Lord as already forgiven you."

Forgiveness is for you, not them. It is a choice for you...will you choose to lift the cloud of darkness looming on your soul today?
