Separation Anxiety

Many times we find ourselves back at the same place time and time again. That place I am referring to is that of questioning God's presence in our lives. I don't mean the question of whether he is in our lives and in our heart, but the times where we are too busy to sit down, being "still"" in a posture that allows us to hear him.

We are just like the toddler whose parent places him/her in the crib for the night, cuddles them, reads to them, pacifies and loves them with the bedtime routine. That parent gently walks away, yet still in the room, but the child senses the parent's absence and panics with a bit of separation anxiety and starts to cry and call out 'where are you mommy and daddy?' Little does the toddler know and yet to realize that they are right there about 2 feet away at the door. The child learns daily to trust that they will always be there, even if they walk away or turn off the lights.

Our Heavenly Father has never left us, our dear, precious Savior Jesus is right there, he is in our lives, our hearts, in our 'room'. We sometimes become weak in faith or with separation anxiety we will forget in our childlike hearts, that he says, "I will never leave you or forsake you." And in John 14, "I will not leave you as orphans, but I will come to you." Also, it says in Romans 8, "if the Spirit of the one who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, then the one who raised the Messiah from the dead will also make your mortal bodies alive by his Spirit who lives in you." He is not only never going to leave us, but he is living in us.
