Warning: Turbulent Skies

I just returned with my husband from a short 2 day trip to Colorado. We were the photographers and videoographers for our long time friends, Rick and Shannon's daughter's wedding. They were so sweet to buy our plane tickets and we were grateful. They live in a city called Grand Junction, CO and we had to fly into Denver and change planes to Grand Junction, they live a 4 hour drive from Denver. We enjoyed a wonderful time with perfect wedding weather, 70-ish, calm winds, and wispy clouds. When we had to return home we got to the airport in Grand Junction to make the plane change in Denver. When we arrived at the GJ airport the weather there was perfectly calm, still in the 70's with no wind, just lovely. However, when we began the boarding procedure and once on the aircraft the pilot was standing at the entrance of the plane greeting each passenger with a smile and handing out his business card. This I found quite odd, but nice at the same time. Then we all made our way to our assigned seats and after we buckled in and the safety announcement began by the flight attendant, she was speaking to us about the very bumpy and turbulent ride for the next 1 hour to Denver that we will have to prepare for and be on the alert of. Being that I 'hate' air pockets, turbulence, or whatever you wish to refer to it, I had a sudden panic feeling due to the set up by our flight attendant's announcement. Then I was thinking, "oh my, this must be dooms-day stuff, after all even the pilot was greeting us with his card!" "What on earth are we in for", I thought to myself. The flight started and we were well up into the sky and so far, it was fine. Then I was preparing my mind by playing music, starting a game of Angry Birds on my Ipad, reading SkyMall magazine, all to 'prepare for this bad weather in the sky" we were all told to do. The entire flight, going over the Colorado Rockies, looking out my window in anticipation, and 'nothing'! All that hype and drama in my spirit, and it was already time to descend down to Denver.
Wow, I just truly was relieved but at the same time, a little confused. But I did not complain.
In our lives, spiritually speaking, we have something similar happen. We know of the enemy's (the devil) schemes, we know the spiritual forces of wickedness that the word of God speaks of is real. We know we have a 'devil that prowls around like a roaring lion seeking someone to devour' so the bible says but many of us do not 'prepare for these kinds of attacks on our faith. The 'pilot' (Jesus) has given us his 'card', he left us the "Holy Spirit' when he left this earth. If we were to live our lives in a state of preparedness and living like the 'armour of God' is real and can help us with the many attacks on our faith that happen daily, we would fight the good fight of faith more effectively. Do we as believer's even really believe these forces are real and do we, like my story of believing the warning signs of a bad flight to come, even though it was a 'false alarm', at least I personally was ready for the attack on my fears. Are we living this same preparedness in our spiritual lives?

In Ephesians 6:10-18 it says, "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world against the spiritual forces in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace."
