Still Quiet waters

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul" Psalm. 23:1-2

I took this photo on my little IPhone while away on the New Year's Eve get away that I went to in Santa Barbara with my husband.  I also wrote one of my favorite scriptures as the verse. It seems that most everyone knows the most popular Psalm our of the whole book of Psalms. It is also known as "The  23rd Psalm. It could be one of the most quoted passages of all the bible and it never fails to bring a sense of hope and comfort to anyone who reads it regardless where you stand with God. This blog post I am just focusing on the first 2 verses and what it can mean for you and I today as we are now entering the 2nd) week of January 2012.

The Lord is my shepherd...I lack nothing. Meaning "God chooses to call himself the 'Shepherd of his people, and his followers considered as a flock under his guidance and direction." What a great way to start the new year with that confidence of his leading and the boldness we can enter the year and every circumstance that may now or will be before you.  He makes me lie down in green pastures..meaning.."He leads them (the flock) in and out, so that they find pasture and safety. The shepherd also knows where to feed them and the sheep trust him and have no question that needs are not there for the shepherd is always there. Knowing this and relating it to your life's paths and the worry that can come with that, the fear of the unknown.  He leads them besides quiet waters. Meaning "waters of rest and quietness" It is not lead to rapid, wild rushing white water rapids. Not the type of water which  are noisy and have lots of motion, but no quiet, calm still waters.  He refreshes my soul or some translations say,"he restores my soul" To restore means to revive, heal or renew.
What a blessing to know we have this confidence and assurance and hope in the new year!
