How many times in each of our lives have we been on a plane and we have already been sitting in that tiny, cramped, hot and stuffy economy seating for hours on end with crying babies and sneezing passengers all desperately anticipating the glorious voice from the pilot "please be seated, and buckle your seat belts please we are about to land." We are anticipating our arrival at our long awaited destinations! But instead of hearing that announcement you look out the window and notice the pilot is actually turning around and starts on a circling pattern right above where you actually know he was intending on starting the descent! The word gets around from each antsy passenger that there is something going on in the cockpit and everyone gets annoyed and angry and outright upset. This continues for at least an hour and you have no idea what it is except for the flight attendant assures everyone that we will soon be on our way to descending soon enough. Finally the pilot informs that it is time to make a landing into the airport and everyone is furious and ready to make their complaints when they get the chance to call the airlines. The plane lands and everyone makes their way off the aircraft. When you get the chance to inquire with the staff what did in fact happen, you come to find out that there was a serious and dangerous problem of a hijacking at the airport and the pilot was demanded from the air traffic controllers to not land the plane no matter what to ensure the safety of the plane and passengers. The whole time you were discouraged and anxious to land, the one landing was making sure you were safe and actually had your best interest and life in mind.
Our lives may seem unpredictable at times, unsure. We have questions we cannot answer and ones we have of 'why God?' and we ask but we still don't feel God is hearing us or giving us answers of why can't I do this, or "why did I not get this prayer answered God?" He is like this pilot, the Lord could be protecting us for harm, from us getting hurt, or making the wrong choices. He knows and sees more than we do. We ask God to guide and direct us, but when He does, we don't like it so we complain and worry. We question God's goodness, we question if he hears us when all along His "no" to our prayer could actually be the answer.
My purpose to share this today is to encourage anyone who feels like they don't think the Lord hears and knows what is best for them. We need to realize just like a pilot is the one who knows His job is to protect the passengers from all harm, so God is in that position for you. He will guide you down to safely just at the right and appropriate time.
Isaiah 55:8-9 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
