Fragile Yet Secure

"I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Oh Lord, make me dwell in safety." Psalm 4:8

This beautiful oak leaf was drifting as if floating down out of the sky one day and the wind was breezy, the sun was shining down on it as if to scorch it just a little bit more. The leaf seemed tattered and a bit fragile, it had the appearance of some rough days, a few hard times and a long Fall season of rain, wind and then it landed here in this safe haven of twigs and other leaves. There was something that spoke to me as I viewed it. Fragile and torn a bit, it was still in tact, it was still a beautiful color and the stem of the leaf secure and not broken. Why is this leaf still 'in-tact'? Why is it so fragile but is not broken? You and I are like this leaf, the tree it grew from was it's home and it's foundation. The foundation was secure, giving it the nurture and love and growth to live and sustain the storms and hard times. What is your foundation, where is your security? In a world of despair and bad news on every corner, where do you stem your life from? I find this hope and security in the Lord, in God's word. You were created to fulfill your life's purpose. Handle it with care and with God's best for you and in the security of knowing Him for you are His creation.
In Isaiah 61:3 it reads, "to give them a beautiful headdress instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, the garment of praise instead of a faint spirit; that they may be called 'oaks of righteousness', the planting of the Lord that he may be gloried."
