Do Not Fear

Isaiah 9:6  " For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace"

Christmas season is relatively a short time but can mean so much if we apply Isaiah 9:6 to our daily life during this time of reflection and giving and love. Many, however are still having many problems they face daily and nothing but stress, financial problems, family issues, pain, suffering and illness is present, which leads many today to one thing...FEAR. Let me encourage your hearts today to draw close and near to the verse above Isaiah 9:6 and let it lead you to that hope and lessen the fear.  We live in a culture of fear. The media drives its entire existence on making us fear. The bible is full of scripture that says over and over 'do not fear, or fear not, and don't be afraid" In Psalm 46:1 it says," God is our refuge and strength an ever present help in trouble. Therefore I do not need to fear"

This savior that was born to us was Jesus Christ, God's son! He can and is still our Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of peace. What area of your life this Christmas do you need him to be to you? As your counselor he is here for you, to give you guidance through his word. As Everlasting Father he is a father to the fatherless. As a Mighty God he is powerful and always there, accessible whenever you need him and is peace lacking in your life today? He is also the prince of all peace and can provide this in your daily circumstances through the Holy Spirit he has left us with.(see Romans 8:26)

The Christmas story is relevant for all of us today. We have this gift of the celebration of the birth of Christ who came to bring peace and hope and salvation to the world who needed it and today we still have the hope of his coming and a world who still is dying spiritually without a savior. In today's world we spend too much of our Christian life in visions rooted in ambition rather than visions rooted in God's will and plan for our lives.
