Fight to Win the Race

When you think about a competitive sports team, and their plans and desires to win the game, that being soccer, football, baseball or hockey, each of these teams train vigorously to understand the playbook, their position on the field and they study the plans that the coach has made for them. Why? They do this because they do not want to be defeated!  They train to win! Why would they go out on the field to lose? They train and plan and work together to defeat the enemy, the other opposing teams.
Do you know what the word of God says about this in your spiritual life? In John 10:10 it says, the thief comes only to steal, kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it to the full." Also in the word of God there is parallel an athlete. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 9:26, "Therefore I run in such a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not just beating the air; but I discipline my body and make it my slave, so that, after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified." Paul makes it very evident that we have to live out our faith with purpose otherwise we will lose heart and spiritual strength and fail. Don't live the only life you have without purpose, vision and especially without the Holy Spirit daily guiding your steps.

What is a spiritual battle feel like or look like?
I have noticed the moment I get the courage to do something I have wanted to do to fulfil God's will in my life, my purpose and my passions, is the moment I sense myself feeling like I am making a mistake or am totally inadequate! That drives me crazy to be honest.  These feelings are supposed to bother us when you really think about it! There is a battle over you to do what is wrong, but God wants you to fight the fight of faith. 1 Timothy 6:12, "fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses." This faith we have is to be fought to win the battle, it is a spiritual battle, a competition for your soul.
The enemy doesn't want God to win. The enemy is out to do one thing to a courageous believer, follower of Christ. The one thing is to detour you and me who are out to walk the path God has for us. He wants to confuse you, trip your path up and try to defeat you. Knowing what God's word says about this, is vital in your life for success for his kingdom.
