Trials for a Purpose

When someone is going to train for a marathon, sports championships or the Olympics, most times you will hear about the athletes first going through extensive "trials."
They will go out of their way to over extend their training ‘on purpose’ to ensure they are ready for the trials for the upcoming competitions. They will work extra hard to train, and how do they train? They do everything possible to ensure they are prepared with health, physically fit and exercised up, they will sacrifice time from other enjoyable things like family, friends and other leisure activities just to make certain they are prepped and ready for the big event, they know what is ahead and have equipped their minds, bodies and spirits for the upcoming trials.

We have to be intentionally preparing for this life. How? Through reading and knowing God’s word. As believers the word of God speaks on trials we will face. In 1 Peter 4 it says “Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. But rejoice for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.”

If we prepare and know God’s plan and purpose for us as believers, know what is forecasted in our existence in this world, then when we face hard times, suffering and trials, we will be better equipped for them, prepared for this just like the athlete who knows what is ahead in the championship competitions he/she is preparing for in the trails he is entering in his sport.

In 1 Peter 1:7 says “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found to praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.”

We have a plan, a purpose and a person who already ran this race for us and already WON! That is Jesus. He is the victor! Stay close to him, he is our joy and our crown.
