“Submit to God, and you will have peace; then things will go well for you. Job 22:21
The word "submit" gets people confused. This word actually means "respect". To respect God is the goal and by doing so you are revering, honoring and giving high consideration knowing He is the ultimate peace giving God. Giving him respect and submitting your will having faith He also will pave your way along every rough road or bumpy terrain you encounter along your life's journey.
In Jeremiah 29:11 it says "For I know the plans I have for you," says the LORD. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." Giving Him respect for your life will ease your life of worry, fear and going down the wrong 'path' that you think you should go down. What if your own ways and thoughts lead you to destruction? Wouldn't you rather save your pain and do it God's way? You ask "how?" well, the only way I know how is to make myself available to God first by allowing Him to speak to me through His word, second of all, I talk to God and third, I let him speak to me by learning to 'be still' before him.
Ways to "Be Still" to hear God:
1. De-clutter your life. Make more time to rest, relax and make your schedule less busy
2. Prioritize your life. Make a list of the top 5 priorities in your life and follow those on the list when making decisions.
3. Make God not just a 'thing' to add to your schedule and life, but instead let God and his Word infiltrate your every thought, decision, and worship him with your life, not just adding him to the end of a list.
